AMO Contact Lens Solution Linked with Acanthamoeba Keratitis
Spokespersons for the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to investigate 138 confirmed cases of the rare eye infection, Acanthamoeba Keratitis.

Representing an approximate 46% of the sample, it was determined that a strong enough association existed between the use of the AMO multipurpose solution and Acanthamoeba Keratitis to warrant the May 25, 2007 alert.
In response to the FDA and CDC alert, AMO issued a voluntary recall of their Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution to prevent any additional spread of Acanthamoeba Keratitis linked with their product.
